The Black Country Skills Factory are this year’s joint-headline sponsors of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Annual Exhibition at Wolverhampton Racecourse on Thursday 18 September.

The annual event will take place between 9am-1pm, and is free to attend as a delegate for members and non-members.

The exhibition will feature 55 stands from a range of local businesses and is on track to attract over 500 delegates on the day. The Chamber will once again be offering the ‘Pop up Speed Networking’ session to delegates with the opportunity to meet local businesses in a relaxed and organised manner.

The Skills Factory team will be available on stand 29 to discuss how employers can up-skill their workforce through subsidised bite-sized training courses offered in key skills shortage areas in the high value manufacturing (HVM) sector such as: CNC Machining, Toolroom, Metals and Foundry, Maintenance Multi-skilling, Welding and Lean. There is also the opportunity to discuss bespoke training opportunities and what subsidy support is available.

HVM companies in the Black Country will also be able to find out if they’re eligible for a wage subsidy if they’re thinking of taking on an engineering apprentice or progressing their existing apprentice to the next level.

The Black Country Skills Factory is an employer-led project supported by government funding whose aim is to address the skills shortages in the HVM sector in the Black Country, the only scheme of this kind across the UK to focus specifically on the HVM sector.
