The Black Country Skills Factory will be presenting the Women in Engineering award at the annual Made in the Midlands (MIM) Awards ceremony on Tuesday 22nd October at Wolverhampton Science Park.
It is the first time MIM have introduced the Women in Engineering award category which aims to recognise the engineering ability and competences of women working within a Midlands manufacturing role.
As featured sponsors, the Skills Factory is pleased to present the award which serves to highlight the vital contributions women make and the importance of tapping into the talent pool of women in engineering and manufacturing.
The event is set to bring together 200 MIM member companies and offers a welcome breakfast and refreshments whilst networking before guest speaker Richard Noble, OBE, recognises the achievements of members this year.
Noble; known as engineer, adventurer, and former paint salesman, reached 633 mph driving the turbojet-powered car named Thrust2 across the Nevada desert in 1983. Richard is now leading the Bloodhound SSC project to break the sound barrier and be the first 1,000 MPH car.
The Black Country Skills Factory is an employer-led project supported by government funding whose aim is to address the skills shortages in the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) sector in the Black Country, the only scheme of this kind across the UK to focus specifically on the HVM sector.
