Skills Factory launches fourth programme of bite-size courses

Following the success of the bite-size courses in 2014, the Black Country Skills Factory is pleased to launch a fourth programme of courses to be delivered from January to late April 2015.

Brokered bite-size courses cover topics from Maintenance Multi-skilling, Welding & Fabrication, CNC Machining & Setting, and Metal treatment, Metallurgy & Toolroom as detailed below, and are subsidised by up to 30% off the cost of the course.

Maintenance Multi-skilling & Production Setting:
Basic Pneumatic Systems – 12/01, 09/02, 09/03, 13/04.
Basic Hydraulic Systems – 02/02, 02/03, 07/04.
Intermediate Pneumatics/Hydraulics (Electro Control) – 19/01, 16/02, 16/03, 20/04.
Advanced Pneumatics/Hydraulics (PLC) – 23/02, 27/04.
Factory Electrical Power Supplies – 24/02/2015
Switches, Relays and Sensors – 16/02/2015
Electric Motors and Drives – 17/02/2015
Introductory Mitsubishi PLC – 18/02/2015

Welding & Fabrication:
Tig Welding (Introductory / Improver levels available) – 28/01, 25/02.
Mig Welding (Introductory / Improver levels available) – 28/01, 25/02.
Aluminium Tig Welding – various dates available*

CNC Machining & Setting:
Vertical & Horizontal Milling – Fanuc Control Programming – various supported courses available*
Vertical & Horizontal Milling – Heidenhain Control Programming – various supported courses available*
CNC Turning – Fanuc Control Programming – various supported courses available*

Metal treatment, Metallurgy & Toolroom:
Metallurgy for non-Metallurgists – 18/02/2015
Principles of Heat Treatment – various dates available*
Non Destructive testing of metals (principles) – various dates available*

Computer Aided Design:
AutoCAD 2D: Flexible learning (30hrs). Drop in Thursdays 10am-5pm.
SolidWorks – Solid Modelling: Flexible learning (40hrs). Drop in Thursdays 10am-5pm.

2015 subsidies

The funding for the Skills Factory project will officially come to an end in March 2015. Although we will still be brokering courses beyond this point, it is unlikely that subsidies will be offered to companies. To qualify for subsidy support, all courses must be booked by 31 March 2015.
