The Black Country Skills Factory will begin their programme of 12 bite-sized and accredited leadership and management courses, with Basic Employment Law on Wednesday 15 April. The one-day course will be delivered at leading UK manufacturer, Thomas Dudley Ltd and provide an opportunity for delegates to see training in action at a best practice company.
The 12 courses run between April and December 2015 and places are going fast, reflecting sector demand for this type of training, with a third of courses already booked. The first course on 15 April, Basic Employment Law, will cover a number of key topics and on completion delegates will be able to understand the key principles of employment law and apply them in the workplace; the key aspects of employment contacts and the different types of contract; the basic disciplinary and grievance issues within the workplace; and the key employment rights of employees.
Colin Parker, Director of the Black Country Skills Factory, said: Basic Employment Law is fundamental to any operational leader in any business. Delegates on this course will have the opportunity to share and discuss information with other organisations and gain a real understanding of the processes involved in a real manufacturing business.
The courses are aimed at manufacturing companies with a focus on SMEs and operational leaders within these companies who have no formal management training. Courses are one-day, bite-sized modules, delivered in Black Country manufacturing companies with a coaching programme included. Courses cost £160 individually, with discounts available for multiple bookings.
The development of the training is funded by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) through their UK Futures Programme Management and Leadership in Supply Chains and Networked Organisations.
The Black Country Skills Factory is an employer-led project whose aim is to address the skills shortages in the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) sector in the Black Country, the only scheme of this kind across the UK to focus specifically on the HVM sector.
