The Black Country Skills Factory will attend the Advanced Engineering UK show when it returns to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 November.

During the two-day event, the Skills Factory will join Invest Black Country, Business Birmingham and leaders from the Black Country business community on stand G121 in Hall 5, to showcase the Black Country as a great place to do business. The stand is next to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) Jaguar Land Rover and Moog.

Over 600 specialist exhibitors and more than 200 speakers will share best engineering practice and new technologies with thousands of visitors to the event.

The Skills Factory and Black Country business leaders will be among the high-profile speakers at the show, flying the flag for the region’s engineering prowess and inward investment opportunities.

Colin Parker, Director, Black Country Skills Factory, will be speaking on day two of the event about ‘Developing an engineering workforce’ and the steps being taken within the Black Country to meet the ever-growing need for skilled people within the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) sector.

The Black Country Skills Factory is an employer-led project supported by government funding whose aim is to address the skills shortages in the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) sector in the Black Country, the only scheme of this kind across the UK to focus specifically on the HVM sector.

The Skills Factory team will be available during both days to discuss the subsidised bite-sized training courses on offer in key skills shortage areas in the HVM sector. They will also help companies find out if they’re eligible for a wage subsidy if they’re thinking of taking on an engineering apprentice.
